Journal of Ion Exchange ∼Instruction for Authors∼
“Journal of Ion Exchange”is devoted to reporting new and original experimental and theoretical research in the field of ion exchange and its related fields. The manuscript should be prepared in accordance with the following instructions.

I. General

1.Type of Papers
Four types of papers either in English or Japanese are published: Articles, Notes, Technological reports, and Review articles. In principle, Articles and Technological reports should be no longer than 8 pages in the printed pages and Notes must be no longer than 4 pages.
1.1 Articles: Articles are original research papers in the field of ion exchange with complete and scientifically valuable findings or data.
1.2 Notes: Notes are short articles with scientifically valuable findings or data.
1.3 Technological reports: Technological reports contain valuable information on new technology or new apparatus.
1.4 Review articles: Review articles signifying general articles and lectures are written by invitation of the editorial committee. There is no restriction in the length.

3.Refereeing of Manuscripts
All manuscripts submitted are reviewed by referees and an associate editor. The decision to accept a manuscript for publication will be made by the editorial committee. The editorial committee may ask the authors to revise the manuscript. If the revised paper is not submitted within two months, the submission will be invalidated.
4.Proofs
The author will receive the galley proof. Revisions other than typographical errors will not be accepted. The corrected proofs must be returned within two days.
5.Page charge and Reprints
The author except that of Review articles is requested to pay a page charge ($40.00 per printed page), when a submitted paper is accepted for publication. The manuscripts from abroad are temporary free of charge until further notice. The PDF file of a paper will be provided with free of charge after its publication. Reprints can be purchased by request.
6.Copyright
The copyright of papers accepted for publication in Journal of Ion Exchange belongs to Japan Society of Ion Exchange. The authors must send a copyright status from to Japan Society of Ion Exchange. Full or fraction of accounts in this journal can be republished or reproduced under the permission of Japan Society of Ion Exchange and the comment that the accounts were published in Journal of Ion Exchange should be noted.

II. Preparation of Manuscript

1.Manuscript
1.1 Manuscript should be double-spaced with sufficient margins.
1.2 The followings should be written on the top page of the manuscript: (a) the type of the paper, (b) the title of the paper, (c) the names of the authors, (d) the place(s) where the work was done including the complete address(es), and (e) e-mail address. The names of the authors should be written in the order of first name, middle initial(s), and surname, with an asterisk indicating the contact person.
1.3 All papers must include the abstract: 200-300 words for Articles and Review articles, and about 100 words for Technological reports and Notes.
1.4 All papers must include several keywords. Keywords refer to single words, compound words and phrases that help the readers understand, categorize, and search the content.
1.5 The text usually consists of the Introduction, Theoretical, Experimental, Results, and Discussion(or Results and Discussion). Some of them may be omitted.
1.6 Acknowledgments should be placed at the end of the text.
1.7 Terminology should be consistent and unambiguous. Nomenclature should conform to the IUPAC rules. The SI system of units will be accepted without editorial change.
1.8 Figures, tables, and equations should be numbered in order of mention in the text and cited with the number, as Fig. 1, Table 1, and Eq. 1. Figures should be prepared by graphics softwares and pasted on the ending of the manuscript.
2.References and Footnotes
2.1 References to the literature should be cited in the text by Arabic numerals as superscripts in parenthesis, as 1) or 1,4-8). Footnotes should be cited in parenthesis as (1), (2),....
2.2 The abbreviations of journal titles should follow the style used in Chemical Abstracts. The title of this journal should be abbreviated to J. Ion Exchange.
2.3 The references should conform to the following styles.
1) Y. Hasegawa, K. Sasaki and T. Tanabe, Bull. Chem. Soc. Jpn., 61, 413 (1988).
2) G. Alberti and U. Constantino, "Intercalation Chemistry" (Eds. M.S. Whittingham and A. J. Jacobson), Academic Press, New York (1982), Chap.5, pp.147-180.
3.Figures and Tables
3.1 All figures and tables should be prepared as high-quality JPEG, PNG, or TIFF files.
3.2 Figures should be carefully prepared using appropriate drawing software. The position of figures and tables should be specified in the manuscript. Figure captions should be typed just below the figure.
3.3 Figures must fit a one-column format on the journal page. Each table must fit a one- or two-column format on the journal page.
